Couple’s Getaway to Monterey!

Oh my gosh, such an amazing place. Damian asked me what I liked with vacations and I told him I’m a scenery gal. He suggested Monterey, CA. Me being the non traveler chose to trust his suggestion. After all, he’s been to all but 2 states.

He chose the hotel, booked the flights, reserved the car... I did nothing. And that was great because I am horrible at making decisions that affect others! 🤦‍♀️ We flew out on June 21st to San Francisco. Drove the coast down to Monterey. Our hotel, Trade Winds, was in Carmel. We were waking distance from a beach and a town of shops.

We visited a few state parks, we hiked to a waterfall, we saw the Golden Gate bridge and we ate some really good food. The weather was absolutely amazing. It was windy, but not too windy, the temperature didn't get above 61 degrees.

Oh and neither one of us brought our work laptops. :) We made no plans ahead of time. Which means we got to sleep in as long as we wanted to, but we were able to get in all of the recommended stops, including a beautiful beach sunset. It really was a great couples getaway.

She loves me. 💕

Phoebe had a half day today due to final exams. I picked her up, brought her home and then headed back to work. When I got home, she handed me a note. My heart is full.

We went skydiving!!

Gotcha! Damian took me and Phoebe, along with Maya, one of his daughters, to iFly. It’s indoor skydiving. Phoebe loved it, and so did I. Next step: jumping from a plane!!

We have a Woodlands Elite Soldier in the house!

Phoebe made the Soldiers All Star Prep Team at Woodlands Elite!! She would’ve liked a higher level but this is the only one they’re offering this season. So she’s excited to be part of a team and get a taste of competitive cheer. Show ‘em what you got baby girl! Mom & Dad are so proud of you! Love you stinker!!

It’s the little things...

That make you feel loved! I got out of the shower and found a stack of folded towels on my bed. Notice she had to include her name along with the first initial of her last name. Just in case I get confused from all the other people in the house? Lol. Love this kiddo!

This kid here... she is my reason... 💕

Me and Phoe stopped at Walgreens today because she wanted to browse. We got Payton a bag of candy to include with her birthday gift. I checked out and then heard Phoebe tell the cashier that she wanted to get this for her mom. Little stinker had money saved in her phone case and snuck this right by me. 🥰🥰🥰

And that’s not all. The other morning I found this note tucked in my phone.
It’s a bit wrinkled so you may need to zoom in.
💕❤️💕

I am feeling more loved now than I have throughout my entire 42 years of existence.
Life is great y’all.

RIP Maui

Today we buried little Maui, Phoebe’s crown tail Betta fish that MawMaw & PawPaw got her in July 2017. We found him unresponsive yesterday after we got home from school and work.

Phoebe got me a sentimental gift!!

Be still my heart...

My girl did it, on her own, no one prompting her... she got me a sentimental gift, a trophy for my desk.

This is a big step for her because she normally focuses on things she wants. I’ve been working with her for a while now to get her to think of others. So the fact that she went into a store, bought 2 gifts and neither were for her, was a big step. I’m so proud of her.

She also got me a personalized bracelet that says “Mom ❤️”, but that one was a bit prompted by me because I thought it would be cute to have one that matches the one she was getting. But she got to choose what was engraved on it. 💕

She’s growing up y’all...

Phoebe will be a teenager in 7 days!!!
Since going back to school after Thanksgiving break she hasn’t fallen back to sleep after I get her up in the mornings. And this week she began to ask that the tv be off when she was going to bed. It is all so bittersweet! 💕😩🤪🙃

Seasons change...

And so does life, people, feelings... it all changes whether we want it to or not. In case you haven’t already heard, Michael and I were divorced on October 17, 2018. It broke my heart but I understood the reasoning behind it. And as I have told everyone else, I have nothing bad to say about him. I believe with all my heart that he was faithful throughout our marriage. I will always respect him for leaving the right way. It is definitely an adjustment without him here, but I know we will all be okay. Phoebe misses her dad but she stays busy and the days fly by. So she’ll see him soon enough. I just really truly hope that he finds, or has found, what makes him happy. Life is too short to be unhappy. I’ve gone through every emotion and at the end of the day, I am just happy knowing and feeling that there is someone that loves me for me, unconditionally. As long as I have that in my life, I have my happy. Phoebe is my constant, she is my heart, my world. We’ve got this and we will get through this. I am so thankful and blessed for the support offered and received. You think you’re alone, and then something like this happens and you see who you’ve actually had by your side all along. Life is good y’all, you just need to get through the storms and count your blessings. 🙏🏻💕 And realize that You are Enough, You are Loved, You do Matter.
