Tools to help make better choices

Things are getting really scary with so many people that I know being diagnosed with cancer the past few years. My thought is that there are most likely hidden carcinogens in all that we purchase these days. I didn't even hear the word carcinogen until 2 years ago, when my brother was diagnosed with cancer.

2 apps that I've recently found useful! Both are free, if you want to know about products you're using and food you're consuming.
The "Think Dirty" app is for bathroom and cleaning products. You scan the product and it will score it based on the ingredients. Then it provides info on why it's good or bad. Also gives recommendations on clean products.
My eye makeup remover scored a 10, mostly as being carcinogenic, which is bad! The health impact is "mutagenic". Who would've thought?!
The "Fooducate" app is for food. There's also features similar to MyFitnessPal with calorie counting, food diary, ability to scan food, recipes for healthy eating, and it highlights the bad ingredients and provides explanations.
My coffee creamer is bad for cancer prevention and has an ingredient known to cause intestinal inflammation and so on. I've lived with stomach bloating and pain for as long as I can remember. Dropping the diet cokes helped tremendously! I used to come home curled up in a fetal position in so much pain. I dropped the diet cokes, after finding out how toxic aspartame is, and I don't experience that daily pain anymore. Granted, I'm not a scientist by any means, but it was something that I cut out and something that seemed to make a difference for me.
With this new app, I learned that FDA has a loop hole. The FDA allows for label rounding, so if a serving has less than half a gram per serving, they're allowed to label it as 0. So if you're trying to avoid trans fat, for example, check the ingredients for partially hydrogenated oils and fats.
Many of us take the most convenient way out to save time, since we lead busy lives. But we don't realize the price we're paying to save a few dollars, or a few minutes of time. I'm trying to take a step in the direction of knowing what I'm consuming. Granted, it may take time to restructure my lifestyle and diet, but if I know that it has bad in it, I'll be hesitant to consume it.

Summer vacay in Picayune, MS 😍

MawMaw and PawPaw came in this past Sunday to pick Phoebe up to go stay with them for a week. They picked Kinleigh up on the way back so the girls could spend some time together. And they have been busy and making every day count! Check out some of the things they've done so far this week!

Taste food challenge, talent show, colored PawPaw's beard, stayed at a resort in Biloxi, went in the lazy river... oh and Phoebe tried to jump rope with slime they made and got it all in her hair! They thought they'd have to shave her head, lol! 😱

Wonder Woman!

Carrie and Aaron took the girls to see Wonder Woman today, then went to Skeeters and back to their house to hang out.
